Crawlspace Encapsulation

Exposed dirt or gravel crawlspaces can be home to excess moisture, humidity, mold or mildew. Waterproofing your crawlspace is an important way to protect your home. Installing a concrete floor in a crawlspace is one way to reduce water issues.

Because dirt and gravel crawlspace surfaces allow permeation, concreting or installing a vapor mat barrier assists in keeping your home free from

  • Water
  • Musty odors
  • Mold & Mildew
  • Radon

Solve Common Crawlspace Issues With American Basements & Crawlspaces Corp.

Crawlspace encapsulation consists of installing durable, professional grade barriers to the walls and floors that reduce moisture problems. First, crawlspace walls are treated. Then, a vapor barrier, or mat, is applied to the dirt or gravel floor. This crawlspace barrier is durable and puncture resistant, protecting your crawlspace for years to come. The expert installers at American Basements & Crawlspaces Corp. make sure all seams are tightly sealed, reducing moisture leakage.

Encapsulating your crawlspace ensures what was once a dark, dirty area becomes a safe and useful storage space in your home.

Process for Waterproofing Your Crawlspace

  • Crawlspace cleaned of debris
  • Crawlspace surface is leveled
  • Sure Flow System installed
  • Perimeter walls are trenched about 1 foot wide and 1 foot deep
  • Stone is placed in bottom of trench. 4” corrugated, perforated and socked drain tile is added, then more stone to allow water to drain in but keep debris out.
    • Drain tile forms a square loop around a sealed basin. The basin is sealed with a grommet lid reducing noise and blocking odors.
    • Inside the basin a Zoeller ½ hp is placed. Water is pumped from basin with PVC line containing a silent check valve to prevent any backflow.
    • Ejection is routed out per village or city code.
  • Crawlspace surface covered with a 10 mL polyolefin vapor matt.
  • Dimpled plastic drain board installed on crawlspace walls and over drain tile trench to direct any wall moisture toward basin.
  • Concrete floor poured.

System comes with Lifetime Transferable Warranty. (Some Exclusions Apply)
